Make perfect air fryer poached eggs every single time. These poached eggs can be ready in less than 15 minutes. The whites firm up perfectly and the yolk stays gorgeously runny.
This recipe is a GAME CHANGER for me.
I love poached eggs so much. But I'm terrible at making them. I can never time them right on the stove.
And I've tried the vinegar. I've tried the swirl method to form a whirlpool. But I just can never get them right. So I pretty much only eat poached eggs when I visit restaurants.
But now! I've found a foolproof method for poaching eggs. Make them in the air fryer! They come out perfectly.
The whites firm up, but the yolk stays runny. And they are ridiculously easy. Dare I say I'll be eating poached eggs for breakfast most days now? Maaaaybe. Probably.
Why make poached eggs in the air fryer
Easy - These poached eggs come out perfectly every time. So much easier than making on the stovetop. And you can make multiples at a time, depending on the size of your air fryer. Mine will allow me to make 4 poached eggs at once.
Delicious - The yolk stays runny while the white firms up perfectly. Then you can serve the poached eggs however you like!
Quick - The eggs cook in less than 5 minutes (after the water heats up for 5 minutes). So fast!
Ingredients
- Eggs
- Cooking spray
- Water
- Salt
- Pepper
- Chives (optional)
How to make perfect air fryer poached eggs
First, take your ramekins. Spray each with cooking spray. I prefer olive oil cooking spray or avocado oil cooking spray.
Cooking spray done!
Add 3 tablespoons of water to each ramekin (if using a 6oz ramekin). If using a 4oz ramekin, add 2 tablespoons water.
Place ramekins in the air fryer and cook for 7 minutes at 400 degrees F.
Crack one egg into each of the ramekins. Immediately cook the eggs at 360 degrees F for 4-5 minutes. (I found 5 minutes to be the perfect time for me).
Once eggs are cooked, carefully loosen the eggs from the ramekins with a silicone spatula.
Lift out of the water and enjoy! (You can place the eggs on paper towels first to help remove any excess water from the eggs).
Look at those delicious runny yoks.
Recipe tips
- All air fryers cook differently. You may need to adjust cook times based on your air fryer.
- If using a 4oz ramekin, try making with 2 Tablespoons water. If using a 6oz ramekin, make with 3 Tablespoons water.
- Be careful not to break the yolks when removing the poached eggs from the ramekins.
- If desired, place the poached eggs on a paper towel lined plate for 2-3 minutes before serving to dry off any water.
- Fresh eggs work best when making poached eggs!
Equipment needed
- Air Fryer - This should work in most air fryers!
- Ramekins - I used 6 oz ramekins to make the poached eggs.
- Silicone spatula - I prefer a spatula that is slightly rounded for lifting the eggs out easily. Most spatula sets will include one. You can also buy this type of spoon spatula individually.
What to serve with the poached eggs
Make Eggs Benedict - Poached eggs are a delicious component of eggs benedict. Top English muffins (I like to toast English muffins in my air fryer) with bacon/ham/spinach/etc. and then add the air fryer poached eggs. Top with hollandaise sauce and enjoy!
Top as you love - I added salt, pepper, and freshly chopped chives to mine. So delicious. However, you could top with hot sauce, garlic chili sauce, or even a touch of Calabrian Chili Paste for a bit of heat.
Serve the perfect poached eggs over toast, on polenta breakfast bowls, or on top of these air fryer breakfast potatoes. I love pairing with air fryer twisted bacon.
